i can't do it...
sorry but i just can't do it, i can not bring my self to buy a new x5, the exterior is so ugly, i really like the interior, i'm sure the performance is great, the braking is fabulous, the feel is all BMW, but i'm either getting a new range rover sport or mercedes ml, i love the way BMW's drive but the exterior is so awkward, so funky, so fugly what the phuck was BMW thinking......

WHAT A TURD....

Have you driven the F15? I'm reserving judgement until I see it in person.
|
Well the F15 may not be the best looking but not ugly. Not that much change
to me. Just some tweaking here and there. I do like the RR-S sorta hesitant I did not get a 2013. Like my E70 just worried about getting the diesel |
My in-laws have an 2013 ML and it just doesn't have the presence of my X5. Side-by-side it looks girly. My mother in law loves it though and she knows nothing about cars.
(I tried - but it is true). |
It is a "worse looking" E70 IMO. The Land Rover and the ML look fundamentally more attractive. Other SUVs that are just plain nicer looking (compared to F15) are:
Touareg Cayenne Jeep Grand Cherokee I love my E70 5.0 Adaptive Drive Sports Package - going to be keeping her for a while! A good BMW dealer friend said he saw a couple of F15s at a BMW event and in his opinion you have to get one with the sports package before it begins to look good. How sad is that . . . |

Saw one in person yesterday and it is very attractive. Don't know how you can make all these negative comments about a vehicle that you haven't seen or driven. Based upon the comments of others who were viewing the new X5 looks wont be a problem for BMW.
|
It's subjective.
|
I know. the only point I was making was you need to actually see the vehicle, pictures don't always convey the true impression. Would you marry someone based on a picture?

2014 BMW X5
A properly optioned out M Sport might not look bad, in the right color. This one was in Carbon Black Metallic, and while it was "OK" it just didn't really work, especially from the front. I'm thinking a lighter color so that there is some contrast to all the Black in the front would help. Interior looks nicely done, and the rear windows are at least twice as dark as the previous years...? Not sure why they did that, but it didn't look back, although they were so dark that you literally could not see the window sticker through the tint! This particular one also had the "stock" M Sport wheels which were 255/50/19 and with the rear wheel arches it REALLY didn't look right at all.

so here is what i see and my wife's comment, "what did they do to the nose, they squished it, weird"
|
i have seen the rrs and it was great, sounds good and feels good. ml, it's more lux than sporty but it looks balanced unlike the BMW.
|
I just don't get these threads. You state you don't like the new X5 which is fine and dandy, but it feels like you are desperate for justification for someone else's opionion to persuade you that the X5 is superior. It's pretty simple, if you don't like, get something else, and move on. Life will go on in the BMW world and they will continue to sell thousands of them.

2014 BMW X5
BMW had their "Driver Experience" event today and the wife and I got to drive one of the new X5's.
The outside in person is ok, takes a little getting used to like anything else, but the interior is where they really made allot of changes. New NAV system is freaking awesome! It's literally like having NAV in Hi Def. The screen is large and so clear it's just a work of art. The rest of the interior is similar to the E70 in overall shape, size and feel, although the dash is new, the door panels are new and of course the seats are new. It was very nice to drive, but very similar to the current E70, which makes sense that it's the same approximate size, same engine and trans and same seating position. It does feel a tad larger inside as the rear window isn't 'quite' as sloped as the E70 so it gives it a bigger feel inside. The iDrive controller is the new larger one that lets you use it like a touchpad mouse, but it's actually a nice size and fits perfectly in your hand. The door panels now have individual locking buttons up front and the inside door pull is a little different. The outside door handles were a little different as well. The E70 door handles are more flat on top where the little lines are for the comfort access, on the new F15 that same area is at about a 45 degree angle facing you as you approach the car, actually a very nice change up. One other thing that is a little different is the outside mirrors. They are a little smaller that the E70's and my wife noticed that right away as she likes the larger mirrors on the E70. Probably about 75% the size of the E70 mirrors. Center console is the same design with dual openings and the glove box is now a single door that opens out like a traditional cars glove box. The car we had was fitted with the textured wood trim on the dash and door panels, to which I wasn't a huge fan of. Nothing wrong with it, just personal preference. The turn signal and wiper stalks are modified some and the cruise control is now on the steering wheel similar to other BMW models. I'll post some additional pictures when I have a moment to, but I hope this helps some folks that haven't seen them in person as of yet. |
