Well I bit the bullet and orders my new M50d, Jan 2015 production, will be sorry to see my current E70 M50d go, been a very reliable car. My old M50d will make someone a happy owner who ever buys it from the dealer.

They have given me a new X5 demo as a loaner until the new M50d arrives, bye bye E70.

My new M50d was delivered to the US shipping dock on the 26th Jan 2015 bound for Australia, it has sat there for 46 days before being loaded onto a ship on the 14th March 2015.

Have informed BMW that I will not accept the vehicle that has been sitting exposed to the elements for 46 days, and a further 30 days on a freighter? delivery is now to be to be end of April now? instead of mid March 2015

A boat leaves every 10 days so I have asked for an explanation? It does not matter how much of a protective coating is on the vehicle, that industrial fallout damages paint, pits glass and not to mention the flat stops on the 20" tyres.

Wow, that is an awful long time for it to sit out in the open just waiting to be loaded and shipped.

Time wise probably not to different than one that sits on a new dealers lot, but I get what your saying about all of the crap that can land on the new paint. Especially rail dust is the worst.

With that said, it can all be wet sanded out, but YOU shouldn't have to do that, I'd contact the dealer, find out what's up and have them plan to detail the outside GOOD when it comes in.

Congratulations.
Just out of curiosity how much did it cost?
In Greece the starting price is 132.000 euros,a lot for a 3000cc car!

do you know which port your X5 was sitting at? work was slowed down at most west coast US ports due to contract issues between the union and their employer. i know that there is a huge back log of work to get through so that could be the main reason why your X5 was sitting at the port for so long

Did you get your 50d? The 40d is off to carsales soon as the 50i is on it's way!

I just bought a 2015 X5 Xdrive50i twin turbo M Sport, very happy with the quality and performance, it replaced my 2002 E53 which I recently sold.
