what a beaut :)

X6 or it could be V5;). But the wheels make it look more like X6. Both V5 and X6 are out on streets with heavy cladding.

Here's someone's imagination at work;)

By looking at the front of the car, I could tell that it's gonna be a 'cross-over' but by looking at the rear pictures, it looks more like a van, but I can't be sure about that cause of the rear covering.

Wagner 11-25-2006 09:53 AM

Quick question, why? Is there a gap filed by the X6?

Looks like competition for the Magnum IMO.

Well I think so, that's why I've had my name down on one for the past year. I don't intend to buy an E70 X5 - I don't need (or want) the extra space, but I do want an X5 that's lighter, more agile and more fun than my 4.8is. I'm banking on the X6 being the better candidate to achieve that.

PersonaNonGrata 11-25-2006 06:10 PM

Who the heck knows what that is. :dunno: With so much cladding on it it could be a stunt car for the next "Mad Max" movie. :D

I would have thought the X3 was designed to fill the "smaller then the X5" gap.

X5love 11-25-2006 07:23 PM

its purpose isn't to be somply smaller than the x5.

its supposed to be a car that has high ground clearance and all the other benefits of an SUV, but with MUCH more focus on performance and sportiness. thats why the X5 got bigger, heavier, and the added third row of seats. this car is really supposed to be the Activity vehicle that the X5 simply couldn't have been.

LeMansX5 11-25-2006 08:29 PM

...And its called Sports Activity Coupe not Sports Activity Vehicle. ;) BMW is creating a new market. MB also has someting in works as competition to X6.

X5love 11-26-2006 11:33 PM

isn't it supposed to be limited to only 4 seats also?

I don't want something 'smaller' than an X5, I want a better X5 - unfortunately BMW in their wisdom built a 'bigger' X5 with the E70. 7 inches longer and a few inches wider would be a real pain for me, considering the roads I drive and the places I park, so E70 is no good to me.

So if the X6 ends up being lighter (which it should be) with a better CofG and provide a similar amont of space to the E53 X5 then that would suit me fine. I only ever use 4-seats in my X5 so 4-seats is fine.

An X3 is too small, too ugly and has nowhere near enough road prescence.

Bimmer4life 11-27-2006 09:41 AM

Do we know what the X6 will look like? There are several pics here in this forum but each looks different, Which is the closest photo to what it "might" look like?

So when will this approx go on sale at dealers? Oct 2007? as a 2008model?

This X6 may seem like what I am looking for as the X70 was way too big and truck like for me and the X3 like Steved said has no presence.

Steved 11-27-2006 10:20 AM

I was hoping that the X6 would look kind of like a Rally Raid (as you'd see in the Dakar Rally), that's where the market would be IMO, something that mimicks a proper off-road performance car but is still practical enough for daily use. If this was true then BMW would do themselves plenty of favours by entering one in either this year's or next year's Dakar rally.

A little bit like this concept buggy from VW (but better looking hopefully)

You will first see the concept at Jan 2008 Detroit auto show.

Wow that late? I thought it would be Sept 07 for 08 model. I'm not sure I can hold out that long.

Its the best CGI at this time. So the basic shape of car may be same but ignore the details for now.

Thanks for the new pics. I'm hoping that rear is just a work in progress not feeling it too much, the front looks good. So with all these pics of the test mules they must be getting closer.

If you consider the E70 X5 'huge', then I don't think that the E72 X6 will be any good for you aswell. By looking at the test mule photos, you could obviously notice that the X6 looks bigger than the E70 X5. Who knows? Maybe that's just an optical illusion. We'll never know how large it will be until we read it's first review.

It is bigger than X5 but seats only four.

Anmar Hussain 11-30-2006 10:52 AM

Yep, but he said that he still wants a car with a "smaller" body.

LeMansX5 12-14-2006 09:54 PM

I have been resisting to post this for few days as its a bad photochop  from the new X5 and the X6 test mules. But here it is anyway.

The problem with all the mules (which don't ever look anything like the finished product will), and the computer-generated guesses made up by various magazines, is that they all show a four door or wagon. Didn't BMW say at one point that the X6 would be a two-door coupe? I know that there are four-door coupes around, but this is the sports model, so a two door makes more sense.

Lemans, do you know?

X6 will be 4-door coupe. It is supposed to look like a sporty crossover coupe, but with only 2-rows of seating. X4 with 2-door is still a possiblilty if its greenlighted. ;)

Anmar Hussain 12-16-2006 03:58 PM

Looks like a Mercedes-Benz GL, but no if you ask me, not too furious looking to be in the BMW X-Series.

Looks like BMW's glorified version of the FX45 at work.

Either way...I'm digging the looks!

LeMans, since the M3 concept is already out, the next exictment for BMW should be the X6, do you think so? do you know when we are going to see more pics of this X6?

LeMansX5 03-13-2007 09:39 PM

X6 is certainly important and so is V5 as both are testing in parallel, also because of new V8 turbo engine. We will see new pics of both as they enter FEP phase.

X6 will also be the first AWD BMW to wear a ///M badge. M division has made a rear biased xdrive which can be "switched off" on-demand.

Lot of excitement with new models in coming months.

LeMansX5 03-13-2007 10:09 PM

Another thing: BMW will introduce next gen of kidney grille with X6 and V5. This new grille will also be used in next 7-series.
