hmmm, can't decide if i like it or not....
|
I like the lines and lights. Looks like no more cargo space than a sedan. Those wheels will be a bitch to clean if those go end up being the production style.
|
I love the lines, the profile, the nose and even side view from the rear corner. The ass is going to take some getting used to. Hey, I won't be looking at the ass anyway, everyone behind
me will :D It looks awesome without the pillars. Black all the way  Now to see if the timing works and just what kind of sticker shock... |
hmmm...it's growing on me
i'd take this over an e70 :) |
Still not feeling it, but I never really was...didn't see a purpose for it. Though I'm sure it will do fine.
IMO, BMW is focusing too hard on competing with Lexus/Acura. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-x...rom-frankfurt/ |
|
Those are big wheels :D
|
I really quite like it, but I have to sit in the X5 camp still, height in the trunk area is a premium for me. Now if I had money for both, then the wife could have the X5 and I would take an X6 M///
|
Yup, that's the exact car I viewed and sat in during the focus group. Looks like they kept the rear end, shame.
The interior is a 2+2 with VERY limited cargo space and poor cargo height as well. |
2+2 ???????????? are you serious? 4 seater, you got to be kidding
|
I like it, but I'm guessing it'll easily reach the $80K+ range with the options I'd want, and that would put it out beyond my financial reach...

Thanks for the great job on the X6 photo layout.

Hmmm.....not sure. Leaning more toward BLAH!

:iagree: But i can't make an honest assessment without interior pictures did i miss those?

Changed the pics to 20" wheels. ;) :nana2: |

I hope that'll be my family in 2 years.

If the cargo space and passenger capacity (and hence 'utility') is compromised, why not get a sedan?
As an exercise in design it's interesting. . .but I don't get it. X5 it is for me. Thanks again LeMansX5 for the hard work put into the photo spread. |
OMG I love it. Any words on pricing yet? What about availability (2008, 2009)?
|
I think release dates will be 3/08 for 6cyl engine and 9/08 for 4.4TT and Hybrid. I would expect about a 10% increase in price from X5 V8 Gas and Hybrid priced roughly the same.

SWEEEET....
This is not even up for debate... like i mentioned 4-6 months ago... it's only what pen to choose.. to sign on the dotted line.. SOLD Ext white..Interior-LOADED vanity-licence plate Change: CYA |
I'm still on board with this X6. I'd love to see the interior shots when they become available.
It's funny to read some of the "other" car forums (namely Japanese) where they are predominantly bashing the X6. I really don't care but I will certainly making things happen instead of sitting on the sidelines. Both Audi and BMW are on the move... Toyota/Lexus has what? The GS460 that has a joke of a motor? The IS-F is coming...but has been for how long now? Good going BMW... stir the pot! |

And I'm in the camp of those not so sure about the looks so will have to test drive and look at it up close and personal. |
Audi and MercBenZ are also working on something simiar to X6. There is a demand in the market for such vehicle.
X6 is not a family car/ people mover. That role is for X5. X6 is for people who like a little high seating position and a fun to drive car and therefore the coupe shape. |
2 words, LOVE......IT! I love the idea of having the ground clearance of an SAV but having the feel of a coupe...its a true cross-over vehicle...I am sure they will shoehorn a big bad azz engine in there sooner or later, I'm sold.
|
hm. I'm not sure what to think yet. I need to see it in production form to make any final conclusions.
The ActiveHybrid concept is pretty ugly. Bad hood, and bad front. The X6 only looks good from certain angles. I like the front end for the most part. I think this is one of the only pics it looks good in: http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3...e128008kp9.jpg |
Is that in Sparkling Graphite?
|
Whatever it's called, that's my color! Did you see the metallic flake in those pics . That's it. I'm extending my lease until I can get the V8
|
I can not believe no one mentioned the brakes on the X6!! Color calipers and cross drilled + vented brakes!! Looks like BMW is finally hearing customers who want larger brakes.

And soon to be introduced BMW's new CBS brake technology. Anybody notice the blue brake calipers? |

Those who saw the X6 in person at the show say that it looks much better in person. |
And real honest to goodness floating rotors!!! WOW!!!
What do you guys think the chances are the brakes make it to production?? |

THANK YOU!! |

X5 vs. X6 exterior dimensions comparison:

i love it, i also got to see the prototype and sit in it in person for the focus group in nj. looks so good in person, the rear is so powerful looking, really nothing like it on the road. did they give engine specs? i read through the pdf and it looks like all design info etc..
|
On BMWusa.com

lemans, the engine specs are on bmwusa website? again all is see is the pdf describing exterior design etc..

The X6 is like the Idrive at introduction: everybody will hate it at first but they will all start copying it and they will all want one.
My opinion: that is a very good looking car. Pure sex and muscles on wheels. Good job BMW         |

how dare you read my mind!!!!:iagree: :iagree: |
I've been excited about this concept for a while now... I think it looks great.
One of the things I've been hoping for, though, is that the B-pillar will be a bit farther back than in the X5. Since I'm tall and like a reclined driving position, that's about my only gripe about the X5's otherwise great interior ergonomics - when I pull up to a 2-way stop, and look left and right, all I see are big b-pillars blocking my view of the road... In my old 328 coupe, I never had that problem. |
Anyone hear anything about a price yet? Or when I can order one?!!?
|
During the focus group they were talking about the 70+ ball park.
|
ceramic brakes, damn sounds good, but wont that be expensive to replace once worn? The brakes on my X5 already costing me a fortune esp when i go into the dealer!
|
i dont know. I'd have to see it in person first. There something about the front/side that I dont like. When I look at the e53 4.6/4.8...it looks good from all angle. I love the new led rear lights though. looks great on the 6 and revanp 5.
I still feel they NEED to make that SAV that was posted the the "itch" thread. |

Finally! Something from Designworks/USA that I LOVE Audi's F*cked up here, that car makes SO much sense, height! This may cause $80,000 sports cars to catch on up here. I'd rather se a 3.5TTD than a hybrid. blech. The exhaust note is one of the reasons I buy BMW, and I'll be d*mned if I spend $60G++ on a car that whirrs and is a FAD that has a very limited lifespan (both the fad and the car thanks to the enviro-killer batteries) I think prices of 5 vs. 6 series will take effect, starting in the high fifties or low sixties maybe for a 6 CYL.  :zoom:  |

LM/S,
TitzPics and your usual First Class job of getting the hot skinny and putting up a fine thread of info! Fwiw, I like it, but the predicted price and techno-craze gadetry is a lil' off-putting...I may be keeping our old '01 X5 for awhile longer. Great Job, S! BR,mD |
This is a very high end SAV. I would imagine a mid $70k's base with a fully loaded one hitting high $80k's. This would make sense since an MX6!ouch: Would be on track with M5-M6 pricing of roughly mid $90k. BMW is certianly moving up market. As usual we will need to wait and see who the competition is. Very exciting products coming from BMW in the next few years, but then again there is always very exciting stuff from BMW every year.
|
I would imagine pricing will fall inline with 6 series pricing compared to 5 series pricing.
|
I have a feeling pricing will be between 5 and 6 series only becaue V8 usually comand premium over 6 and X6 will have optional 6cly engine. If there were only V8's and Hybrids for X6 then yes, I would imagine pricing being at or even above 6 series pricing.
|
Wow so yah, at first the styling looked a bit weird from the official pics, then Frankfurt pics came out and that looked a lot better...then the autospies video i just saw on youtube. about the ActiveHybrid and i'm finally like woah, this is pretty bitchen!!! did everyone see how the ActiveHybrid's rear apron moves up and down and the ActiveHybrid light turns on and off. WOAHHHHH how;s that for cool? LM, is the ActiveHybrid still in concept or is there a North America release date for it???
|
Why so quiet here?. :saad: When will we hear some new information? I got the new car bug bad. 3 months till lease end.
 |
Soon. Production press release coming next month with all the details.
|
I have production release dates.
I have had them for a while. Thought they were posted.

Welcome JanisX5! Don't worry about your English, it's better than some of the American members. :)
|
Thank you, cmyX5go! I am waiting for X6, I think so it will be right wehicle for me, may be. At the moment X5 is best of the best! But I have heard in Europe first costumers cars will be only in june '08. I am waiting for 3,0sd model (biturbo diesel) because, I am afraid in Europe Hybrid will cost more aprx. 100 000 Euros (140 000 USD) :(. For example X5 4,8 with standart equipment costs aprox. EUR 70000,- ( 100 000 USD).... May be is possiblle to make reservation in US but I do not know any dealer.
