Concept X6 Color name?
Dear all,
Does anybody know color name for Concept X6 shown in Frankfurt? I could only assume Diopside Black or Jerez Black? Another version is Ruby Black, but I am note sure, Ruby Black seems more red. Thanks an advance, Alexey http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.au...ve_1280_08.jpg |
Whatever it's called I LOVE IT! I thought it was more of a dark metallic gray than black :dunno:

Not sure but here are some real life Jerez black M3 pics. Jerez has both green and blue/purple flakes with deep metallic finish. May be Scott can fill us on that.

Thanks!
Just found real life photo Diopside Black M5. It looks quite close to X6' color, but I am still not sure :dunno: http://bmw-soper.co.uk/components/co...%20YH07ZXF.jpg |
Hi Everyone,
I'm a new member, but have been reviewing this forum for quite sometime since my next car will be either the X5 or the new X6. Now to my question: Was this question resolved? i.e. Concept X6 Color name? At the same time, I have not seen these wheels on any of the production vehicle pictures. They look similar to the 19" ones sometime seen on the X6 35i! |

Sophisto granite metallic is the color
You will see this color soon on new 7-series. http://www.autozeitung.de/online/bildDB/95035_700.jpg |
LeMansX5, - million thanks for the information!

Thanks for the responses and information.
This color is for the new 7, why not for the X6... The X6 debuted in it as a concept in the first place... Little disappointment! |
Hello.
Have a look: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/farbe...-t1762859.html I guess it is diopsid black! On some pictures it appears more black than grey. Sophisto grey looks always grey. Greetz, NYClover |
Welcome to X6world. Its a deep graphite gray. I also thought its diopside black initially but when confirmed from BMW sources it turns out to be Sophisto granite.

I´m not sure that you´re right...
Have a look at this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...x/P1010069.jpg you can see the X6 in front and the CS in the back. There is the same light situation for both cars. The CS looks very much more grey than the X6 does. I also asked someone of my family who´s an engineer, working for BMW engine plant. He told me that the colours of CS concept and X6 concept car are different. He will ask for the exact colour name and said that he bets it is diopsid black. I am very interested in that question and hope to find out what colour it is exactly. I´ll also visit the AMI in Leipzig (Germany) at the 4th of April and talk to the BMW crew. |

CS Concept has always been displayed in Chrome Shadow color only . We use this color exclusively on our most special concepts. Sophisto Granite color has been never used on CS! Always a Chrome Shadow , you've been tricked by the play of light.
Sophisto Granite is the color featuring on the X6 Concept. Production F01 and F01 7-series will be offered in this color. Perhaps later the color may be offered on other models as well (eg. on X6). |

But its a big difference if its always the same color on CS. The CS release pics (Shanghai) are much lighter color than the one at NY auto show. |

Chrome Shadow is a special DuPont color featuring reflective pigments. Its photo characteristics are amazing , highly reflective. it can vary from liquid silver to dark chrom color specter , Depends on the background , and lighting situation. |
Have they released the mpg figures for these engines yet?
All of this other good info is tempting me out of an X5. I can drive the X6 at a dealer on Friday. Only a limited basis as the BMW rep is bringing the X6 there for about 4 hours. |
Thanks, Scott. MPG figures are in this thread
