Why do they still have it taped if they already showed it Frankfurt  How much longer do you think we'll have to wait for official release dates?

Looks a little wimpy... Maybe that's the 1.8i model :dunno: :)
|
man o man, why don't BMW just launch the concept version, it would fly out of the dealers.
I already have my name down for the first car with my dealer but i'm not so sure now ???? These pics don't look too clever IMO  |

Looks like it could be the Pontiac Aztec of the BMW lineup IMO.
|
The pillars do ruin the design a bit. The concept looks much better.
|
Looks like shit!!!

Ugly!!

Looks not to good!!!
|
the bar things on the roof hurt the look, as well as the pillars and especially the fact that its in black.
look at the grey concept, or even the silver one in the spyshots a thread below this one, look a LOT better. |
That's awful! Not nearly as sleek as the concept with those pillars.
Not even an aero-kit and big a$$ wheels will be able to save this one. |
:yikes:
|
Pillars should not make night and day difference, or do they? All the people who saw X6 in person at Frankfurt like it. Its a beast and by no means wimpy.

Tint windows like this and that should create the illusion of hiding the pillars. :)
|
Why do they even tease us with hidden B-pillars if they're not prepared to deliver the look?

I don't think the concept looks that great anyway but to be fair to those that did, the bigger difference than the pillars is the tape on the side, and the wheels.
|
If they put the concept into production I doubt they could keep up with the demand for them.
But the production version looks god damn awful compared to the concept. |
I don't like the concept either, but you guys do realize there's a shitload of tape on the one in those pics right?
|
After seeing these new pics, which in my estimation is the production car minus the few black tapes here and there, I must say I am extremely dissapointed. Its such a let down from the concept car from the Franfurt show. If there are any BMW marketing guys reading this board (as they are prone to do), please, please, please get rid of the bloody B pillar it ruins the car and definetely kills a sale (at least from me).

They won't change the design now it's too late in the day.
If sales end up being poor, you may see it in the first facelift 3 years after launch :yikes: |
i don't think BMW's ever done a facelift earlier than 4 years into launch.
all cars have 7 year life cycles, first 4 looks like the day it came out, last 3 are facelifted (could me major, like 7, or minor, like z4/6/5) as for the car when it comes out, it's going to look exactly like the concept, except that the windows will have pillars and the brake lights will be LED bulbs instead of LED tubes. and oh yea, the mirrors will be normal size. i just don't get how people could be soooo disappointed when you're virtually looking at the SAME car, except with some tape on it. |

I thought with the "first" facelift of the X3 they only painted the bumpers, didn't change the material or shape..? |

that is one fugly car

My point was it is the ugliest thing in the Bimmer line up :) |
yuck!
|
Looks like a '72 Opel on steroids, and it has the same roof-line as a '65 Mustang.

No no no When you see both cars in person you will see X6 has completely different proportions. Longer wider , higher. The upcoming Progressive Activity Sedan (F-series) is the car more comparable to Caliber. Kind a ... |

I want to like it.....It will be awesome in person. I know it will, I know it will. I don't want to flip back to the E70 damn it. *sigh* |
face facts

Press release of production model with pics is coming soon after Tokyo Motor show. |

IMO the e70 is definitely leaning towards the luxurious people carrier and has lost some of the sporty appeal of the E53 and the X3 is uglier than a monkeys armpit. I hope I like it in person. |

This is way off - sort of like comparing a Pontiac Bonneville front end to an E60, then saying that the cars are alike.

 Don't think so. That would be close to F-series, not X6. |
that Caliber looks like a candidate for my daughter's first car.

No no no! Nothing like F5. F5 is a roomy fastback (with sloping roof line!), not a mini-van. That's why it's called Proggressive Activity SEDAN. |

I like it... and then I don't... and then I do again.:dunno:
These pics are encouraging... I think. Looks much better with big wheels and no roof rails. Still would like to see those pillars gone though. http://images.motortrend.com/feature...ear_corner.jpg http://images.motortrend.com/feature...front_turn.jpg http://images.motortrend.com/feature...ide_motion.jpg |
what are pillars?

oh ok . it doesnt change the car much does it *scratches head*
|
The vertical posts that run between the roof and the body (in between the front and rear windows is the B pillar)

Great work LeMansX5 on keeping us bang up to date  |
We're getting a 3.5i , 3.5 diesel and a 5.0i here in South Africa.
Already as expected, a lengthy waiting list! I still prefer my E70! Cheers, |
Wow, the concept car picture posted by LeMansX5 looks great!! A pity that they could not make it look like that.
Only thing I don't like is the aluminum running boards... |
