When, when, when ......................
will we be getting some concrete info on the X6?
My money is down and I am completely unsure now after seeing the spy pics of the production versions. If it's not 99% as good as the Concept I want to get my deposit back. Do you guys think the cargo space will be less than an X3? I have to be able to get 3 large hardshell suitcases in the trunk to do the airport runs. |
Misery loves company. I'm dying here waiting.

I am sure your dealer will be able to sell your spot if you don't like it when it comes out. You shouldn't expect it to look just like the concept, that would be the first time for any manufacturer. |

Don't worry, you can always get the full deposit back. |
less cargo than X3 for such a big car would be a suicidal move surely?
so there is no chance of me doing the airport run "with luggage" then? |
Honesty, I'm not sure I agree with JCL. I saw a prototype of the X6 at a consumer survey thing and there was cargo space. We'll see, soon I hope

Unofficial news from Latvian dealers - first costumer cars will be in Latvia at june '08. I hope to jump in first vawe...

Here's a link to Motor Trend's X6 test drive (originally posted by LeMans, as usual):
http://www.motortrend.com/features/a..._preview_drive and here's the interesting bit: The cargo room behind the rear seats is equally impressive given the roofline. The deep trunk looks as though it could swallow several large suitcases, and there's under-floor storage similar to the X5's. |
MT is predicting a $5k premium over X5 pricing... that's a deal breaker for me.
|
Quote:
It is a 6 series, they are priced above the 5 series. This is a premium SAV, not the run of the mill X5 SAV. I expected a $8-$10k premium over the X5 and if it comes in at $5k I will be pleased. |
Quote:
obviously i didn't expect a $5k premium or it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me  All kidding aside, I thought of the X6 was more of a "replacement" for the X5, not an additional vehicle in the lineup. That is probably because until seeing the pics with the sloped back roof line, it wasn't as obvious to me that it was an entirely different vehicle. |
anyone know of the expected announcement we were due this week ???
this is starting to get painful, waiting & waiting :bawling: |

some of the reviews said the transmission they drove was 6-speed, so i'm assuming the 8 speed is gonna be an option? prob pretty expensive too... |

There's nothing on BMW's Press Club website yet.
Any idea when the embargo is due to be lifted? If we can't an answer I could ask my journalist buddies. |

Update: Not expecting to see the X6 press release this year. Seems like they are back to drawing board trying to fix the crowded pillars look.

If the press release is delayed, I'm guessing production and the actual release is also delayed. :tsk: Maybe it's time to get into the E70 for two years and leave the X6 for next time around. |

I have been waiting patiently for this release, I may have to jump into an X5 instead. |

I doubt any major delays and BMW is still saying that release is early next year. |
I like the X6 less and less ever time I see it. Save yourself about $50,000 go out and buy a Pontiac Aztek and put some rims on it!!!!!
|
Quote:
Crazy talk  |
Quote:
Get a Aztek and try to do the ramps at 65 mph like a BMW and end up in a hospital and then pay them the $50,000 to fix yourself. |
Quote:
I think I would rather be the Aztek owner in the hospital hidden away from the world than the guy driving around in the the "Euro Aztek" taking ramps at 65 with people wondering why the guy in that silly looking car has a smile on his face!! :stickpoke:bustingup:bustingup:bustingup:bustingup |

finally someone is telling it as it is, lets face it lads, from the concept pictures etc, the x6 s nothing to scream about, so silver was merely voicing out what i feel is a point of view from a large number of ppl on the upcoming x6 rather odd looks. Lets hope the car when properly unveiled will look better. In the mean time, that was pretty funny silver, calling the x6 a euro azteck hahahah
|
The concept without the pillars and with a better design of the rear view mirrors look pretty good. However, if they are going to use the X5 rear view mirrors and with all the pillars as shown in the other thread, then it is not as good.
Given that they are prepared to show it to the public very soon, howcome they won't release the engine spec and more details of the Dynamic xdrive? Some people are saying that the 4.8i engine will be used in the top model X6 (for the non-M of course). Hopefully, the 4.4L v8 biturbo is really coming for the X6. |
Big side mirrors are demanded by national legislation in many contries around the world. Thier functionalyity is prescribed. And engineers have to obey those rules. Especially the new EU law is very strict ... so expect big mirrors on smaller cars as well.
Pillar-less SAV? I don't thnik so. They are needed for structural rigidity . especially in the car of that size and weight. V8 turbo engine is coming. Not sure if already at the launch though. |
Quote:
And what about MB CLS mirrors? I hope there will not be mirrors like E70, they are really good for driving but don't fit to X6. |
In today's Autocar it printed a claim that it will be publishing 'Official BMW X6 Pictures' this week on www.autocar.co.uk.
I presume this means that the embargo will be lifted sometime this week. p.s. I have just had it confirmed that pictures will be released from embargo during the next few days. |

sort of disappointed by the rear seats...center console that's just a part of the seat, seemingly just there to deter a fifth passenger, and i hope i'm not acutally seeing those headrest built into the seat... but it looks nice, like a torpedo |
