Except that 42,625 UK is more like $83,506 USD.

But you can't compare a UK price to a US price to get the price delta.
If you want to see the X5-X6 price difference, compare the UK price of an X5 (on the web) to the UK price of an X6 (from the article above)

X6 30d is listed in your link at 41,995 GBP.
X5 3.0d SE is listed at 40,545 GBP.

Looks like a few thousand dollars difference, FWIW.

Please back this up. How are they not variations of the same ride?

Can you really deny that the X6 is the coupe of the X5?

Exactly and since I would doubt it would be that high again I'd say around $60K in the US market.

Sorry, I don't follow your logic. You are using a retail UK X6 price to calculate a likely US X6 price. You can't do that.

An X5 3.0 starts at $46k in the US. In the UK, the X6 is $3000 more than the same model engine X5. That would be $2000 in the US, given the lower prices. So, why wouldn't it start at just under $50k USD?

They are absolutely variations of the same ride. What Wagner is likely referring to is Leman's comment that they are not aimed at the same target market. That doesn't change the fact that they are engineered off the same platform.

I'm not going to attempt to post how and why, I'm going with what magazine articles (that have been used on this site) have posted. I don't have the time or capability, neither does anyone here, to fully investigate it. I simply re-mentioned what was already done by magazine review...I can't offer it full credence as I didn't write the article.

Yes, but what you (and apparently two magazine articles) don't understand is that target market does not affect pricing by $15,000 dollars.

Also, apparently target market pricing differentials don't apply in the UK but will do so in the US?
