Black 35d with 20" style 259s spotted

Another marketing setup (take car off transporter, park in public place, then wait for pictures to appear on internet).

Looks much better than other pictures I've seen of black X6s.

Are BMW leaving these cars about on purpose...?

Look how clean it is, not a sign of snow or salt dirt anywhere, the other pics of the Silver one are spotless too....just seems a bit strange to me.

Like the silver roof rails though.....

Deffo needs some 21"'s on there...

EDIT:

D'oh, just read your text......great minds ;)

Yes they are definitely applying the 'product placement' approach to their early marketing activities. ;)

Glenn, I'm still in two minds about the 21"ers. I changed to Style 214, but I think I will change back to these 259s again. The front looks ok, but I think the rear track looks a little narrow (for the bodywork) and therefore would benefit from mild spacers (5-10mm), which would help fill the arches better. I'd like it (slightly) lower too, but I can probably live with it.

You may have a good idea there...

I followed an X5 up the motorway yesterday, it had the 214's on, and i could not believe how much further they stick out than the 19"s on mine.

Really gives the car an aggressive look, especially helped by the wheelarch flares.....i really feel the X6 needs something similar.....i will be right pissed off if something comes out after launch....

great find Steve, many thanks for posting
these are the best black pics of an X6 so far & yet I am still not feeling it.
you know, certain colours suit certain cars & I think the VR is the best colour IMO.
I do think it needs 21"wheels as those 259 style still seem a little lost.

there is a lot of space between the wheel and the car :s

In that case, they're probably reading what's being said on here, so everyone say 'HELLO'

I think they've been forced out of the closet because of Agent Palbay. They can no longer beat him at his game so they'll just toss them out there in public.

Post from Scott27 over on another forum..

If you go back to my previous and first X6 reports you will see the brief for the X6.

That drivers that enjoy their close proximity to winter locations either have a sporty coupe for a main car and a regular 4x4 for the Winter get-away weekends. With the X6 being a combination of a performance car with four wheel drive. The creative marketing has gone into overdrive and each Winter sport location from Austria to Italy, Switzerland to even remote areas of the UK the X6 is there.

With some BMW personnel signed them out for their Winter holiday. And will add additional test reports to the X6 project team. And of course wait for the exposure on the internet.

At Geneva time look out for the X6 in the BMW Compound at the exhibition hall and of course the hotels around the City as many BMW execs have them for the duration of their presence at Geneva.
