10 Attachment(s)
PALBAY got me started, so I sneaked into into NYC autoshow that officially opens only tomorrow :nanana:

ENJOY!!!

UCrewX5 03-20-2008 10:38 PM

I love that interior / exterior combination

orleandean 03-20-2008 10:39 PM

Pretty front end, no pics of rear, but it is a coupe, not very X-like

StanF18 03-20-2008 10:52 PM

Great job on the pix:thumbup:. I'll be there on Sunday. The X6 is a mixed bag for me: love the 400 hp engine (who wouldn't?), nice interior, can't stand the body shape and style:thumbdown . I'm waiting for the 4oo hp twin turbo to move over to the X5 platform before I'm sold.

alexz 03-20-2008 10:55 PM

Agree with you on exterior body, but let me tell you it DOES looks much better in person and it grows on me. Also I thought rear seats would not have enough space for me (I am 6'3") but I sat very comfortably in the back

Fantastic pic's!!!:2thumbs: This X6/Urge to pick up a camera thing is contagious..... Unless someone is an avowed X6 hater,I'm batting 100% on my prediction that after an up close and personal encounter w/ the X6,you'll walk away sold on the car.Thanks. PalBay

Great photography skills on display here. Really enjoy your work.

Thanks for sharing! Is that Vermilion Red? It looks nice under those lightings. Wonder how it'd look under the sunlight.

LeMansX5 03-21-2008 10:16 AM

They are not letting people sit in X6 at the NY show.

:stickpoke

For general public its probably true.
But not only that I sat in front and in the back, I also opened the hood and the trunk to get the pics !
Lots of lovely ladies and models were there as well, but since I was with the wifey I tried to keep it clean and only took pics of the cars ;)

It was a private party for the press, unlimited drinks and appetizers were served as well :nanana:

motordavid 03-21-2008 10:50 AM

Good Pics, A!

Not letting people "sit" in the car? WTF...
Genius marketing there, imo.

Great photos, I still don't think it looks that good.

You have all the bulk of the X5 and reduced room, what is the point?

Drinks and appetizers are for all BMW owners visiting them.

You don't have all the bulk of the X5, the X6 looks smaller when you see it. That's one of the things that appeals to me, certainly in the UK where SUVs tend to be frowned upon based on how much size they occupy, the X6 doesn't cast the same size of shadow over other cars as the X5.

And why question "what's the point?". What's the point of an X5? Surely either a proper truck or Minivan/MPV would be more sensible, but we don't buy these cars just to conform to society's expectation of 'sensible'. We buy them because they suit our needs and we like them.

What's the point of a 3-series Coupe rather than Sedan? What's the point of a 6-series rather than a 5-series? Is there really an answer to that question either than "because we prefer it"?

:iagree: Not everybody likes the 6-series bloated butt. It bigger than 5-series but only has 2 doors. Why? Car companies don't spend millions and throw a new product in market without research and knowing that there is demand.

motordavid 03-21-2008 03:48 PM

SteveD,
Very good opin post, imo...

Looks like the same vehicle they displayed at the Detroit Show. At Detroit they let people sit in both of the vehicles. Incidently, I was negative on the X6 until I saw it up close. I've yet to see a picture that properly portrays the vehicle. Sometimes I think BMW has the worse photographers available. Your pictures are much better than the garbage they included in both the press release and the brochure.

I just got back from the car show in new york and in the basement there is another BMW section with two X6s (35i and 50i) that they were letting people manhandle. I sat in the front and the back and found the seats to be very comfortable and with enough room. I am only 5'9" though and would image a taller passenger to have a little trouble in the back. Overall the car is gorgeous in person and you definitely cannot make assumptions about it based on pictures.

Aaah crap, I was at the show yesterday and this was the first time in my years of going that I didnt visit downstairs. I agree that the car is absolutely beautiful in person, and that colour red will just be screaming for the police to pull my ass over. By the way that CS Concept had my willy moving in the upward direction. That concept is pure sex on wheels.

xRide 03-23-2008 12:25 PM

there were more shows downstairs? o crap.

i thought the show was boring in general.

The only thing impressed me at the show was the CS caddilac's CTS coupe and the buick concept.

I thought the X5 was better looking than the X6 overall.

Steved,Your cut from the same cloth as me.Some things in life are meant to be purely enjoyed w/ not much utility......high performance automobiles come to mind.I don't think the X6 has ever been cast as a "Sport Utility Vehicle".As much as I dislike the "Sports Activity Coupe" monicker,it probably does come closest to accurately describing the X6.If modern automobile engineering and design will allow a 5k "SAC" to mimic a sports car and allow me to enter and exit w/o the use of a shoehorn, and look the coupe part,.....all I can say is,where do I sign the dotted line.Thanks. PalBay
