Might Cancel X6 XDrive50i Order over Full Leather
 

Being a car nut, I get to order all the cars for my family. It's actually quite a fun job. My Dad's Cayenne Turbo lease is up August 15th, 2008, and he has been unsure of what to replace it with.

After convincing him another Cayenne was not the answer, he saw the light with the X6. After an XDrive35i testdrive, he was, to no surprise, unimpressed. But, we loves the looks and with the new Road & Track test drive, really excited.

Good news: We have a week 32 build slot for an X6 XDrive50i. Order status is 111. His order looks like this:

But, I just wrote the salesman that if we cannot add leather dash/doors/console, we will wait until MY09 or cancel the order for a Cayenne GTS.

I asked him to contact his regional sales rep to manually ad option "4M5."

I just wanted to let others know incase they were, also, holding out for this option. It is unacceptable for a car this expensive to have a plastic dash. I wouldn't want my father having to put up with it for three years.

It's like seeing $100,000 997s at the Porsche dealership with every option except full leather. So tasteless.

The standard dash material is great stuff, not exactly Chevy Cobalt material. I agree that the leather dash is WOW, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker?

Just spent a few days in a buddy's 5.0. And I have another good friend with a GTS I've driven a few times. The GTS is by far and away the best Cayenne (turbo included), but it's nowhere near as fast as the X6 5.0 (which is obvious
from the seat of pants). And to match the options on an $80,000.00 X6 you'd be paying about $95,000.00 for the GTS. The leather dash is worth the money. I'm sure they can change the order if you threaten to cancel.

Why not cancel the order and get an X6M and suck the paint off the doors of a Cayenne Turbo S for $45,000.00 less :)
