WOW!!!! 340 HP 35i X6
 

Check out this Car and Driver article.It just hit my mailbox today.Had to scan it in. That bad boy is quick. I was impressed when I test drove one at the TriState Meet. I thought she held her own against the pick up in my 4.8. Can't wait to drive the 50 :)

They must not understand the concept of power/tq under the curve v. peak power. Not that complicated.

They are comparing a twin turbo (lots of torque at low rpm) with an NA engine. While various dyno tests have suggested that the 3.0tt makes more than 300 hp, estimates are closer to 310 than 340. All the dyno results out there that I have seen are from chassis dynos, so it is a guessing game as to flywheel hp. 340 just seems pretty far-fetched.

Regardless of the numbers, this article indicates that it will be near imposible to see a TT6 X5. Simply it will be too close to 4.8. Add the fact that the TT8 is likely being developed for the X5M, I guess, and it is a guess, we will not see the TT6 in the X5.

The only way would be an upgrade for both 6 and 8 to the TT varaiety at the same time!

That is one heavy vehicle, all that HP and barely busting 6 sec to 60mph...ouch.

That didn't stop BMW from building a 535 with a twin turbo while continuing to produce the 550 V8. I do expect to see a twin turbo 3.0 litre X5. BMW is comfortable with multiple models with similar power, just see the European lineup of 3 and 5 series with engines differing by a half litre or less.

The NA V8 will be retired eventually, or continue to be produced for certain markets with lower fuel quality.

:iagree: Their is only 2 tenths of a second separating 0-60 times for the 535i and 550i and they are both on the market right now.

535i 5.6 sec.
550i 5.4 sec.
BMW's estimates.

They have the X6 at 6.5 seconds. It does weigh about 1,200 pounds more than the 535i which has the same engine. I would imagine that all of those figures are conservative.
