X6 50i vs. Cayenne GTS vs. Range Rover SS

Hummmm....18 MPG.....sounds like a conversation I had w/ a BMW Engineer.The intial reports from 50i owners (w/ low non-broken in miles) is in the 10-12 MPG range City, based on only the onboard computer.Not good.It will be interesting to see where the final longer term MPG's settle in.Thanks! Official city/ highway is 13/18 MPG. Combined is 15 mpg. New cars do not give as good mileage.
2008 EPA MPG is 'supposed to be' more realistic.

Wow! 15 combined MPG's is not good.

Is the RR Sport really that slow? WIth a supercharged V8? I thought it would be much faster than a e53 4.4i.

BMW X6 xDrive50i comes to the UK
The BMW X6 range is to get a new flagship with the launch of the BMW X6 xDrive50i. Powered by a unique twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the vehicle’s 408hp powerplant is capable of propelling the vehicle from zero to 62mph in 5.4 seconds before going on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.

The 4,395cc engine features the novel design of two turbochargers and catalysts within the vee of the engine. Such a configuration aids packaging requirements while also boosting responsiveness courtesy of the shortened exhaust pipes. To highlight the competitive advantage this arrangement yields the BMW X6 xDrive50i is 1.8 seconds quicker from zero to 62mph than the flagship Range Rover Sport. The BMW’s CO2 emissions figure of 299g/km is 75g/km cleaner than the Range Rover and, in recording a combined 22.6mpg figure, it is also 4.8mpg more fuel efficient. It is a similar story when comparing the same BMW X6 to the Porsche Cayenne GTS. The Porsche is 1.4 seconds slower from zero to 62mph, 2.3mpg less efficient and, at 332g/km, it is 33g/km more polluting*.

The BMW X6 xDrive50i goes on sale in November priced at £53,930 OTR.

*Note: Performance figures are for the Tiptronic-equipped Porsche Cayenne as the BMW X6 is only offered with an automatic gearbox.

Impressive...now i can't wait to see the data on the X5 & X6 ///M.

Numbers keep changing
 

Very interesting....the stuff you highlighted in red from the UK release doesn't match up with the earlier BMW post. The Cayenne GTS has gotten noticeably slower in the UK doc (6.1 sec to 6.8 sec), while the RR Sport has "sped up" by 0.4 seconds. I know some variability will happen based on road/track conditions, tires, etc. Didn't think it would be that much though.

Would be great to get the E70 body below 6 seconds, like we had with the E53 4.8is (5.9 secs)....hope that's coming soon...
