X6 50i vs Infiniti FX50
Not sure if this is a re-post but an utterly useless comparison imo. Considering that the X6 50i was clocked at 4.8sec 0-60...that's valid cause to pit the X6 against the Cayenne Turbo S and ML63 AMG.
http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...50i/index.html I just can't seem to put a finger on how they arrive at their decision to compare vehicles. Just because they're V8 and top of their models? Perhaps they'll give us a more spirited comparison with the X5/X6 ///M...:dunno: |
Other than the comparison of price point and seating, they gave the X6 a good review.
I'm dying to drive the 5.0. I was impressed with the 6 cylinder, that 8 is going to blow me away. |

Wrong. The SRT is an all around vehicle. AWD, Brembo's, nice suspension and steering, reasonable priced, easy to Mod now. Stock times on the jeep SRT are from 4.4-4.8, and yes, under 5 when it is wet out. Now throw a predetor tune on it, and you are down to the low 4's. Now throw a Vortec on it, and high 3's. Sorry, the Jeep SRT will beat the BMW, ML and Porsche to 60, and to 100. The ML will take it at a high speed roll. Then again, it does not look like a Pontiac Aztec!

There was no mention of Jeep anywhere in this thread until you brought it up...fair then, if FX; X5; X6; Cayenne; benz ML; benze GL; Audi Q7; and Jeep were pitted against each other, few-to-no enthusiasts would select the American unless they were on a budget. Give it another year till the new Bavarian line-up is released and we'll see where that leaves the Jeep SRT8 and it's market. Quote:

Next year? I am not even sure there will be a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep next year. I agree, it is a modestly priced vehicle, and give a lot of bang for the buck. Its a stop light beast, hanfles well, and can carry 5 passangers and their gear. Is it a BMW or Merc? Nope. But it will take them from a stop light, and that is where most city racing is done. I really don't care that a 90,000 ML63 can take it from a 100 MPH roll.
I had 2 Jeep SRT's and a Dodge Super Bee. The quality was decent, but not the best. My wife loves her X5 4.4 and will be getting a 09 X5 4.8. I have a 06 211 AMG and a 09 GT-R. Yes, I am a car nut, and love performance. That X6 5tt is not for everyone, especially styling wise, but I do like the engine. I wish they offered it in the X5, as she would get that as an option. But it is a heavy beast. The Jeep SRT is no light weight either at 4700+ pounds, but it has 420 HP and TQ. it is easily moded as a predetor tune and CAI will make nice gains. I can but 2 Keep SRT's and have change left over as comapred to buying one X6 5tt.....I am afraid BMW missed the market on a 4 passanger with limited room at a high price vehicle. |
I've said it before, others have said it and i'll say it again...BMW absolutely did not miss the mark with the X6. Just because it doesn't qualify your interest? No manufacturer releases any product without their due diligence and BMW did just that. They hit their target demo dead-center...review their sales reports if you want concrete evidence and compare it to the Infiniti FX (as well as Jeep if you wish). Pride can no longer afford to be paramount in today's economic environment...it has and will always be about business, competition, and evolving. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have developed X5 & X6 ///M variants. I predict they'll also hit that market dead center.
No need to wait another year for new model line-up press release, it should be announced within the next 4-6 months. There's talk of a possible X5 50i as well...Consider all this and where that will leave the Jeep SRT8 and it's resale value. |
Resale value is talking a hit all around. Even the Vette Z06 is taking a huge hit when you can buy a low mileage 08 that listed for 80,000 for the low 50's now. BMW raised lease prices to off-set faster and steep depreciation of their SUV's. A lot more Jeeps willl be sold than the X6. Maybe if it did not look like a Pontiac Aztec. Lets address this in a year and see how well it is selling. Performance wise, the Jeep will take it. Pricewise, the BMW wins.

In the meantime, feel free to hit your nearby dragstrip and post your #'s...including the slalom. 2009 BMW X5 GARNERS KELLEY BLUE BOOK'S KBB.COM AWARD FOR BEST RESALE VALUE IN LUXURY CROSSOVER SEGMENT: http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...lue-award.html I can only imagine what they'll have to say about the "aztec"-looking X6. |
