Calling X6 owners
I'm leaning towards getting an X6 when my lease is up in December. I went to the dealer yesterday and was sitting in one. I hate the narrow view out the rear window. I know the reverse camera is a help when backing as long as it's a clear DAY. But how do you find daily driving? The blind spots must be huge. I'm always panning my mirrors, keeping track of who is where. Cars must get lost on you while looking in the rear view. Of course I'll put my trusty spot mirrors on the side mirrors.
Just wondering.... |
Only had ours for 4 days - but no problems so far. The rear visiblity is less than in the X5, but it is not like you can't see the car behind you at all.
The side mirrors are bigger than the ones on the E53 which helps a lot as well against blind spots. |

I don't mean the car directly behind you, but say someone coming up from behind a lane over to the right or left. Are you loving it? Is the handling blowing you away? Congrats and thank you! |
Yes - its great fun :)
Best way I can describe the bildspots is what my wife said: "Not as bad as I expected" |

Enjoy it. |
dont have a problem with mine but i would definatly got for the reversing camera, i did you wont regret it.
Enjoy |
If you've ever driven a convertible with the top up, the X6 is not as bad.
I drove an old Chevy cube van with no windows in the back. Once you get used to 'driving with the mirrors' it is very easy. |
I have had mine for 2 months now and I have to say I am loving it.
In terms of the blind-spot, I can't say I have noticed it besides the huge side mirrors help a lot. With the regards to the rear view, I have to admit I rely heavily on the sensors when reversing, but I do the same with the Mrs X5, so I would say nothing unusual. How it drives is where the X6 is the strongest- dare I say it handles like the 3 series to me, just that it is heavier and bulkier. |
Thanks guys. I'm getting excited. I love my E70 but I'm looking forward to something different. I can't wait to drive the 50i. I've been holding off for fear I may love it so much I'll be looking to get out of my current lease early.
Performance Center Delivery is sounding really good too. :D I am going to test drive the S5, that's a hot looking car. I think I'm already sold on the X6 though. If the 650 had xdrive it would be a tough choice. |

...sorry, nothing else useful to add |
April issue of Roundel has good article on X6 50i. Check it out.

Thank you ;) I'll check it out LeMans... |
I think this Model looks nicer http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...series-gt.html

Someone at my gym has an X6 50i in black. I spotted it last night and couldn't take my eyes off of it the entire time I was there. :luv:
Go for it, L! |

I really don't want to do black again, I forgot what a pain in the ass it is. BUT the X6 in the other colors offered just don't do it for me. I really, really love the way it looks in black. I'm hoping BMW will offer the Graphite color of the new 7 series for the 2010 X6. That would be cool. |

Ask for Priority colors....Carbon or Ruby black or Azurite
|
Carbon Black would be cool. What's Azurite? Never heard of it. The one in the pic is Ruby?
Edit: i just googled it. Hard to tell in pics. I wish I could see them in the metal. |

I wonder if I might add a question to the owners here ( OK L?)
I was wondering about the headroom... am considering the M version when it arrives so whilst at the dealership went and sat in one, and noticeably had to duck my head to get in (not fun). I'm only 6 ft but found that if I didn't, would bash the side of my head on the roof. L have you any thoughts? Cheers J |

I don't remember a difference in the head room getting in the front, but you have about 4 inches on me. I'll pay more attention the next time I'm at the dealer. Now the rear seat, that's a different story. |

Just came back from a Chicago-Detroit-Chicago trip and I did not have any size related issues, nor any issue at all really :) |
At 6'1", (well, I used to be :D), I duck getting into our X and,I fold myself into our Vette if the top is up...
I have never found headroom a problem in any car, sans hat. I do bump my hip/skinny azz on the vertical door jamb bulge on many cars, if I'm not paying attention. L, you would look very good in an X6...course, you would look good in a Yugo, too. BR,mD |

This morning I was stuck in traffic next to a Monaco Blue X6 50i with black interior. Drop dead gorgeous. I do not like this color combo on the E70, but daaaaaaaaaaaaaayum it looked amazing on the X6. |
I haven't seen many in person. I saw a VR on the road yesterday, Tasman Green at Morristown and quite a few black on the road and at Open Road. I guess I need to check out a few dealers to see the colors up close and personal.
I have to admit. I do not like the way it looks from the rear. I love the silhouette and the nose, but that ass  Well, I won't be looking at it, everyone else will :zoom: |
Laura: 35i, 50i, or M?
|

I will price out the M for the hell of it. |
I changed my mind.
