Acura ZDX

Just watched MotorWeek and they did a comparison between the ZDX and X6.

Did a search on here and didn't find any references to ZDX.

I guess no one sees the Acura as a comparable vehicle?

I have no skin in this game, just curious what you X6 fans think.

Where is the handle for the rear door?

Me no like....But I'm somewhat partial. I don't like the nose at all. It's also more car-ish than the X6. I haven't read the article yet...

That thing is UGLY. if you put an X6 next to it, the X6 will definitely look more refined and more "expensive" looking...

Acuras have been looking cheap to me lately.

:iagree:

As Hyundai is trying to create with their Genesis. I actually wrote a business analysis on that..pretty interesting stuff...

apparently toyota works this way:

Scion: Hook them while their young
Toyota: Keep customer in middle age (average Driver)
Lexus: Keep the customer when they get older

...Pretty smart business plan, but that doesnt change the fact that i hate toyotas

Emotional opinions aside... does anyone have any comments on the car itself other than "acura sucks" :bustingup

If they are looking to compete with the X6, why wouldn't they offer engine variants? It only comes in a 3.7L V6. But then again, Lexus only offers the V6 in the RX. I guess they just want cookie cutter.

Normally bland and boring. This one is bland, boring and ugly.

Definitely ugly. And it's an Acura..a toy compared to a BMW. I find it amusing how the Japanese vehicles are always trying to know BMW off of the top ranks. It will never happen.

I looked at the MDX and the X5.... In the end, the X5 is def the better drive. Im assuming it will be the same with the ZDX and the X6.... the styling on Acura has been a big miss for me.... I thought it would grow on me, but as the Acura line unfolded... it never did anything for me.

The comparison between the ZDX and the X6 clearly shows the difference in design attitudes between Japanese and German aesthetics. While Japanese cars often look more"exciting" at first, that wears off very quickly, while the Germans (especially the lastest BMW designs) tend to produce something that may not look as fascinating at first, but will look great ten years from now. It is also interesting that since I got my 2010 X6, a lot of people have commented on how "beautiful" it is vs. any other large all wheel drive vehicles, including BMW's own X5. It is also interesting that the X6 is much more popular overseas than in the US, while the ZDX probably wouldn't make much of a dent overseas, but will sell like hotcakes in the US. I don't know what the message is here, but it certainly is food for thought.
