To nappa, or not to nappa?....

All,

I traded my '09 X6 35i a few weeks back, and put in an order for a sparkling bronze X5 50i. It was due to go into production this week.

Yesterday I had cold feet, missing the unique nature of my X6, and realising that 99.9% of the time it's just me and possibly a dog in a travel crate in the car.... so I cancelled and changed my order to a '12 X6 50i.

I'm really happy I made the switch.... BUT now I'm having the age-old options nightmare. I've gone with a basically fully loaded car (including the soft-close doors, which are a fun gimmick on a friends' 7er).

I'm going with the nappa dash and, despite the fact that my last car was black sapphire, I'm going that way again too. I can't decide whether to go with the black nappa seats (multicontour, of course!) or not.

Anyone with the nappa got comments on what it looks like / durability / whether they'd do it again?

I have the nappa in my M3 and after 5 years it's still in great shape... but there's so much more black in the X6....

Excited to be back in a (much faster!) X6 soon!

I have the X6 with full napa and of course multi contour seats. Way to go! Love them. It's like sitting on an old soft leather jacket. I love these seats and will never go back. They look great and feel great.

I'm also Black Sapphire with black interior.

Thanks! After reading through your main posts (I've added to your 10,000+ views now!) you've got a lot of exterior shots but no wider shots of the seats / dash. Any chance you can add some? ;)

I'm having the same quandary as you re interior finish - at the moment I've gone with Bamboo (as I had in my last X6, albeit with an oyster interior) as I think the aluminium may be "too much" or get knocked around.

What are your thoughts after a longer period of ownership?

I'll try and get some shots. My beast is filthy right now. It's been raining for weeks  Might not be able to until the end of the week.

As far as the trim goes. I LOVE the look of the brushed aluminum. I don't think it's too much but it does get marked really easy. My side of the center console is not pretty. I don't even know how it gets marked up. I purposely do not wear a bracelet on my right arm so I don't scratch the console. I lease though, so I can live with it and might even do it again. If I was buying, I wouldn't do it again. I had both the light wood and the bamboo trim in 3 X5s and needed something different.

And thanks for adding to my views. Let's push KYZRSOSE over the edge.....

If you want the ventilated seats, I believe nappa leather is not an option

I decided on Nappa for my 70 after having standard on my 53... I really didnt rate it for the money... I didnt have vented but did have full multi contour and the massaging option...

The armrest and edge pillow really wore very quickly and overall the seat felt less padded... I really use to notice the difference sitting in other 70s with standard seats...

I went back to standard on the 71 I really dont regret it.... :)

But hey!! its all subjective :)

Yeah - my car arrived two weeks ago. I love the look of the nappa, but I can't seem to find the same comfy seating position that I could with the "standard" leather in my old car (both with comfort seats)

I think I'd do the nappa dash again, but go with "stock" leather seats....
