Back in 2000, I had a 2001 BMW x5 4.4i #13 off assembly line. It opened all windows and sun roof with keyfob and closed same.

4 months later I was sitting down to lunch at work and a pouring rain was starting. My key fob was in back pocket. Needless to say, someone ran into lunchroom looking for me -- your windows are down and sunroof open. Wtf?!???!!!!! Luckily it had just started

I was not the only one. BMW issued a SiB to disable this function in US because of this very issue.

Yes. Well one thing is its rain or water sensor are on,,, so hopefully that helps with water hitting the sensor n closing the windows. Lol
