Feeler Question for East-coasters
 

So... On relatively short notice (September or October?), who would be willing to drive here (10 minutes south of Charlotte, NC), and have an East Coast X5 World meet?

I would host it here (which, btw, is only three blocks from my house):

I can rent the beach and swim club (pic above) for an evening. I would provide food, drinks (both alcoholic and non), and -- if needed -- I can even house a few of you should you decided to stay the night. One of my neighbors is a DJ, so I could even provide that.

The Tega Cay Swim and Beach Club has an adult pool and two kiddie pools, and as you can see by the picture, it is right there on the lake. I can bring my boat around for those of you who'd like to go out on the lake and do some boating.

If I get enough interest, I can get the ball rolling. I would love to have all of you here, though I know it's probably not possible for a lot of folks. Bring the wifes/girlfriends, kids, dogs, I don't care. We are a kid- and dog-friendly household. :)

I really do mean this, by the way. This is not a joke. I have mentioned this in the past, and I really do want to do this. (Kidney stones and cancer sort of put my plans on hold for a few weeks lol.)

So, preliminarily speaking, who would be willing to attend?

Not an East Coaster, but I'm down with this. Throw out some dates and I'll do anything I can to make it.

October may work better for me. I'll be doing some travel for work in September, and plan to spend at least a week touring through the U.P (Upper Penninsula of Michigan).

p.s. - I'll take dibs on some floor space to sleep :D

Let me check out the schedule. October would be good... the weather here in the Carolinas is just perfect at that time, too!

How about the second weekend in October? The 8th and/or 9th of October? I'd have to call the club to ensure that it's open on that date... but I can only do that if/when I get a few RSVPs. :D

JK: Damn I wanna be there...but, I'm committed for Oct 6-9th with our "end of season" 4 day match play tourn, dinners, club parties, blah, blah, blah. If we were jes' "attending" that 4 day event, I'd blow daClub off in a heartbeat; but, I'm Treas of GeezerLeague and theCEO is co-chair'ng the wimmens ball chasing and events.

(Maybe your club is "busy" that weekend, too?!)

I am living in Raleigh NC. For me it is a 2h trip only. If you have nothing against people with some strong french accent (Yea I am French but I am under medication for that...hope to be better soon :) ) I would love to be part of this.
I can even bring real, and I mean real, French Pastry for all of us

Well, since you ARE "taking medication" for your being French, I guess I don't have anything against your coming.

Of course, you're welcome! Anyone on this board is. I only offered this to East coasters becaue I know it would be difficult for those on the other regions to come down for a day or two. This is all about getting to know each other (regarless of nationality, political views, and -- in SG's case -- sexual preferences :D), have some fun (and some brewskies), and chill out.

I called the scheduling guy for the beach club today, but he was busy coordinating this concert they were hosting tonight. I will try to get back with him tomorrow. As soon as I have some availability dates, I will post them and see if we work something out.

Alright, I have some dates. I may also post this on a separate thread:

September
- Saturday the 10th
- Sunday the 11th
- Saturday the 17th

NOTE: The pool closes on the 18th of September. On any of the following dates, we can still use the Beach Club, but the pool will not be avialable. The weather will still be wonderful, but again, no pool.

October
- Saturday the 8th
- Saturday the 15th
- Satruday the 22nd
- Saturday the 29th

I need to know how many of you could attend on what day. If we get enough interest, I'll put it together.

Well, so far, October is the CLEAR Winner, with each, 15th, 22nd, and 29th receiving thee votes. I'd prefer the 15th or 22nd, if only to hold it no so close to the holiday season when people may be making additional plans to travel.

Looking at a business venture in NC. Still in early phase of negotiations, but if it goes through I will end up moving there. Would love the opportunity to meet other X5 owners in the area. :thumbup:
