West Coast Meet Location

Hey, how about we vote and see which location has the most interest.

hayaku 01-12-2006 02:11 AM

only potential problem i see with this is that the core group of organizers will have to be near the actual meeting place to handle local logistics...

so if we vote on a location, does that mean that those nearby are by default the ones responsible with setting up everything? i mean those of us far away can help but not nearly as much as those close by... distance plays a factor in the organizer's ability here i think...

SANguru 01-12-2006 02:20 AM

agreed. Good call.

im up in washington, but either ps or vegas for me. :) i dunno if i'll drive down though maybe fly if my arms dont get to tired(drum sound badunk sch)
yeah im a nerd i know  i'll help if needed somehow? :dunno:

PersonaNonGrata 01-12-2006 02:56 AM

I agree with Hayaku. The location is as much a function of the person(s) willing to take on the planning and logistics. We cannot have a meet in a location where no one lives. The other issue is dealer support. We need a dealer that is willing to help out with $$$. We have been lucky to have had Crevier pony up for food, prizes, and other fees associated with the meet.

I am not unwilling to travel to Santa Barbara or SLO, especially if there is a good deal on hotel, but as Hayaku said, that means someone has to take charge.

Lucky you. If it's in PS, Alaska Airlines has lots of direct flights to PS Airport.

May I mention one other idea please?

On May 20 there is a wine festival in the park in Paso Robles, CA. Last year I stayed at the Embassy Suites in San Luis Obispo. While I was there, the Pacific Sharkfest was occurring (BMW 6-series). The hotel sectioned-off part of their parking lot for the cars and it seemed like folks had a pretty good time.

How about we meet for dinner at McClintocks in Pismo Beach the night before, then spend saturday in the park enjoying the wine festival. Then on Sunday maybe we can organize a drive/caravan home.

Thoughts?

Agree that location should be close to the organizer. Just trying to get a sense of where people would like it to be. So far looks like SoCal is probably the better choice. And especially if Kevin is willing to undertake this venture

somewhereinla 01-12-2006 01:57 PM

Paso Robles...That's sound really good.

bingw325 01-12-2006 11:17 PM

I have never been to San Luis Obispo so I guess I vote for that !!!
I also waiting for my rims and my polo shirt along with x5 license plate ... see how I'm excited about this meet :wow:

bingw325 01-17-2006 12:28 AM

OK, So far San Francisco has more votes for the meet... How will make the last decision ? I'm willing to help out.. How about it guys.. Washington DC already has a date in each calendar:tsk: ...

somewhereinla 01-17-2006 01:18 AM

I think there are too many locations to vote for... We should narrow it down to 3 at the most.

AutoXer 01-17-2006 02:39 AM

If you combine LA and Palm Springs, both in SoCal. I think SoCal is fine and willing to make the drive. Anyone else?

dshue 01-17-2006 07:55 PM

is there anyone living in SLO that has voted? I know that there is a BMW dealership there (i think its called Coast BMW), and they may want to sponsor the meet. Ill be in san luis next weekend and can check them out if no one else can.

ROMEO 01-17-2006 08:55 PM

Palm Springs its Perfect i think...

Coast is in San Luis Obisbo, right off the 101. SLO is 3-4 hour drive out of LA. Coast is good I got my X5 there.

bingw325 01-25-2006 08:33 PM

IMO too much distance between NorCal and SoCal...
my best bet is to have two meets for our golden state; that will work better...what do guys think

AutoXer 01-26-2006 12:20 PM

I personally am willing to drive down to SoCal for a meet. Think the weather is better and more predictable. Kevin is looking into some things in SoCal, haven't seen anyone in NoCal stepping up and said that they will take charge. Lots of it will depend on who wants to be the organizers of this event, then I think we let them pick the site.

I orginated this poll just to see where the interest level is, and to use it as a guidance for the location to the organizers, not as a definite place to meet. But the results are pretty evenly divided between NoCal and SoCal.

BMWX5man 01-28-2006 03:40 AM

Palm Springs is a good location for meeting as well. I vote for it.

bingw325 02-09-2006 11:16 PM

I'm willing to drive to socal .........If no one in bay area will take charge.

bingw325 03-07-2006 11:36 PM

So what happen here ? it's been almost a month and nobody talk about it...So Bimmerfest is the only meet we can have...

Mindfull 03-07-2006 11:49 PM

Thanks for reviving this- I'm still interested too, located near SF but willing to drive, exp in the X! Looking forward to new developments! If I can help, let me know.

matt20043.0 03-08-2006 01:15 AM

I live in the Central Valley, what about a Bay Area meet. I actually will not be able to make it to Bimmerfest  . I have family coming that weekend.

Dark BMW 06-21-2006 10:57 PM

Sad,
I saw one X5 at bimmerfest ..and it wasn't mine.
we need a socal meet, preferably LA. I went to school in San Luis Obispo and it is pretty nice there as well.
anyone else want to meet up in the LA area specifically the BEACHES!!!!

X5Flyboy 07-02-2006 08:04 PM

I voted SF, but having read some posts in the Lounge about pizza in SD, I'd drive there (~1000 miles) for GOOD pizza!
