If you have an X3 does not have the premium package, which in this case I believe you do since you have BMW assist, unless you just purchased/ordered it separately, the VR is not turned on and the dealer cannot turn it on for you. I have an 05 X3 without the premium pkg, but I do have bluetooth installed with the visteon module (btw, the car needed to be recoded as well to accept the bluetooth). The VR is not recognized. When I asked about this at the dealership, they stated that the car did not have a certain package and if I wanted VR, it would need to be recoded from the factory...not a simple switch on or off.
If anyone has more insight, please let me know.
