I scanned it with GT1/ IPNA and it said something like exhaust camshaft reached limit. Exhaust actuator "B" after going through test schedukle in GT1 , it recommended new vanos unit. WE tried swapping out Exhaust solenoid (checked spring inside vanos, ect) ,we tried changing camshaft position sensor, still had code . Yesterday, I took the vanos apart again and swapped his intake and exhaust pistons to another vanos unit I had. I used 2 cans of brake cleaner and blew out every oil passage in vanos unit. After I put everything back together, the truck fired up and sounds great. He picked the truck up this morning and the code hasn't come back . (fingers crossed that did the trick )
I guess the old vanos unit was so worn that it didn't seal right, that is why the intake and exhaust pistons were so sloppy in their bores.
