I said the same thing. The funny thing is my local BMW dealer actually solved this problem for me. I should add they quoted $1,000+ to replace them because the whole exhaust manifold has to come off. In lieu of that I asked what else they can do.....they said we can try to bend it up slightly.

I was going to take an actual picture of my engine but its been pouring all day. May add tomorrow.

Please note there are 2 of these plates in a row along side the engine. Mine was the first of 2 as indicated in the picture.
