How much damage? what year/miles do you have? Unfortunately this could get very sad...If you have hatch/body damage, and hit 70-80% of 'what they think it is worth', you could get totaled. I know your search was extensive... and your costs including inspection, transport perhaps higher than usual. Beware of getting lowballed.
BUT...lets hope it is an easy repair! Sorry.

I am pretty comfortable managing on my own. Mine is a 2012 with 50k mi that I own for 10 months. There seems to be damage to rear bumper and both sections of rear hatch. All glass is intact. Underneath looks OK but I would not know until the shop will put on alignment rack. There is no way I am looking at total loss with this, just does not look like enough damage. Contemplating using a nonBMW authorized shop and saving $$ for a tow hitch.
