*UPDATE* I found a link on how to remove the ink from plastics. I imagine the process would be the same, so no need to saturate the unit like the video shows and instead just put the nail polish remover (with acetone) on a rag and just rub. I've watched several videos on it in the last few minutes and the process seems simple and doesn't leave any residue or alter the finish of the plastic.

Thanks, that's a great find! My next move is to pull it out, reseat the brackets (I know they're not in right) and check the frame. I had Nav so no cutting for me (yet).
To answer your questions:
- I'm using my phone as a hot spot now. It gets the job done but I'll likely pick up a dedicated one for the X5 and travels with my kids.
- Music quality is excellent.
- Calls mute the radio and streaming music fully - it basically gives full audio to the app that demands it most recently, including the BT call app. Because only one app at a time gets the speakers voice instructions are a full pause to music, not a dim/mix.
- GPS is in the back of the dash and works out just fine. No complaints.
Quick note - the volume lag with the hardware is rare and associated with the android so lagging, usually due to an app being finicky or looking for wifi connectivity. When the OS isn't bogged down its instant.
