Good day!
I have to do some more research, but I'll let you know of a mistake I made a while back with my 540i... The fuel pump died at around 208K miles... And when I say died, it quit working and never recovered... Even after cooling down...
When I replaced it, I failed to verify the bottom end was seated correctly in the locater in the bottom of the tank... This caused the suction system to not work properly... I pulled it the next day and verified it was seated in place... It worked...
The one night I did drive it, it had half a tank, but sputtered like it was out of fuel... I was moving at the time and did a hard left and right on the steering wheel... Fuel sloshed over to the pump side and I was moving under power again...
Might be totally different situation, but I'd throw that out there...
Good luck!!
Cheers!!
