I got that same routine on the contractor from the guy with the million dollar home down the road from me. I didn't have the heart to rub it in on him when he sold his place and moved after all that money he spent having an airfield built behind his house. The hangar sunk and his driveway collapsed.

We have a killer water table here. Water just bubbles up out of the ground in different places.

The only ones with nice homes and no issues in the homes are built on top of mountain rises. My house is on a mini rise but the driveway runs thru a flat spot. It works on most of the time as long as super heavy stuff stays off it. Big trucks just sink up in whatever water spout is wanting to erupt.

Im using metal grids in places to hold it together. The pros that came out the last time said the only thing they would build and guarantee was a bridge from the highway to my yard.

I could buy a new home for that cost.

I wont be living here forever as I will be moving a nice home with a big yard in a town not far from here eventually so there are limits to how much Im willing to invest in the quest for a driveway here.
