the diagnosis is below i'm just curious if what they say actually addresses the trans failsafe error . If anyone can provide words of wisdom should I let him go ahead and work on it or get another opinion.
** VERIFIED CONCERN, FOUND THE FOLLOWING DTC'S 145-CAN TORQUE REDUCTION; 146-CAN TORQUE INTERFACE; 141-TANK FILL LEVEL PLAUSIBILITY; 227-FUEL TRIM BANK 1 PERMISSIBLE RANGE EXCEEDED; 228-FUEL TRIM BANK 2 PERMISSIBLE RANGE EXCEEDED; 211-IDLE SPEED CONTROL VALVE MECHANICAL FAULT; AND 149-AIR MASS TO ENGINE THROTTLE SIGNAL IMPLAUSIBLE. PERFORMED SMOKE TEST AND FOUND THE DISA VALVE WITH AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF LEAKING-NEED TO START WITH THIS FIRST, THEN RECHECK. ALSO FOUND THE ENGINE OIL FILTER HOUSING TO BE LEAKING PROFUSELY. LASTLY, THE BRAKE FLUID LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE THE BRAKE FLUID IS LOW AND THE BRAKE PIPES ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR TO THE REAR ARE LEAKING.

I am by no means a trained BMW mechanic but I do own a few. As long as you have solid vehicle voltage (over 12V), my guess from the errors listed would be the mass air to throttle signal
implausible causing the trans failsafe prog error. That is the factory electronics trying to save the engine from what it perceives as a catastrophic problem. Pull the intake boot and have a look around in the throttle valve area and make sure it is closing completely, some have reported a o-ring failure and part of that o-ring binding in the throttle flap causing the throttle flap not to close completely. From there I would try a mass air sensor if the throttle valve operation is unobstructed. That seems to be the only critical code I see in your list.
