SAP that is failing makes a horrible sound similar to a failing bearing on a water pump or idler bearing: it shuts off with a switch at 90 seconds. It is absolutely obvious if it's working but badly. No code if noisy like my wife's but my understanding is yes code once fails.

SAP is where I was going with asking about the sound but I didn't want to cloud judgement.

SAP is very obvious part just aft of the starboard headlight. For 90 seconds at start it blows like hell and when the bearing goes it sounds like hell
