In regards to an owners manual...if you have access to the internet...type the following phrase into a google (or your search engine of choice):
Type or
copy & paste "BMW MKIV owners manual PDF" into a google search box and you should get multiple links to downloadable Nav owners manuals. Don't get hung up on the model year...the MKIV (wide screen nav) is the same for all e38/e39/e53 models...heck...you could read through the small screen navs (MK I, II, III) and extrapolate the functions to the MKIV...the design architecture is basically the same.
Ditto above...the
MODE button will allow you to select AM/FM, TAPE, or CDC...and the TONE
/SELECT button along the right side will allow you to make other selections (the "select" features are pictured below) depending on which audio function you are listening to:
