Hi guys,

- Looking for a car for my son in college in Lansing Michigan...

- Very familiar with BMWs, having owned 1998 528i, 2006 X5 etc.

- I am "old-schooled" and prefer the 2004-2006 with old-school mechanical water pump.

- I know that the 2007-2010 X3 runs on electric water pump (Pierburg price is $350), and this typically dies at 60K-80K etc.

- I don't mind buying a 2007-2010 X3 if water pump is the only problem, b/c I can change it and move on.

- Can someone help me with the pros and cons of these models? Any downside buying a 2007-2010?
