I have noticed the compressor clutch does not engage, so does this mean the compressor needs replacing or is it possible the system needs to be regased? Can it lose gas without using the AC for this long of a period?
Since the refrigerant pressure in the system is a lot higher than the atmospheric pressure, if there's a leak in the system the refrigerant will leak out. A good place for a leak is one of the hose, hose fitting, or the condenser. A bad place for a leak is the evaporator in the dash. In order for the ac system to work, the compressor clutch needs to be engaged. If the compressor clutch is not engaging the ac will not work.
