The dash errors may have been coded out. Do you have any software tools to check, like BMW Scanner?
Regarding the non-operating lamp, if you have a voltmeter, it's probably best to start tracing the voltage, starting at the bulb socket and working your way back, via the headlight connector, to the LKM.
