You can power your DRL by tapping into your angel eyes (you have a facelift E53 I think). Switchback would be powered by tapping off your turn signal.

Like others said, since the E53 is designed to run incandescent bulbs, the 12V is modulated to save power. LEDs like constant power. But from the reviews on Amazon, it looks like it runs off PWM just fine.
