There's a thread on here about the airbag recall, and I am convinced the geniuses at BMW corporate have turned this Takata recall into a money making scheme. My statistical analysis so far from that thread, shows a 0% chance of getting an airbag replaced, and 100% chance of getting a $1200+ estimate for something else. Seriously. Check it out:

So yeah, it's clearly a 30 minute job, even with a few smoke breaks. But the $1200 is mandatory per the recall protocol.  You DO get free coffee with that though, which should take some of the sting off.

Huh? What does a separate issue that he chose to mention to the service adviser have to do with "a money making scheme"? He could easily turn down the job. The recall itself isn't going to cost him anything, so I'm not sure I see what the problem is.
