Hi all,
I have a problem with my panoramic sunroof leaking which I believe has caused my SOS warning light to come on in my X5 (E70).
I have phoned around and no one seems to want to touch the sunroof so I'm thinking of fixing it myself. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but I have fixed a few things in the past in my older X5 such as the electric window winder.
Here is a pic of the rear window where I believe the leak is coming from. It could be other places too I'm not sure. Could it even be the outer seal? It was sodden with water when I first spotted it but since I've had the cover open it has seemed a lot drier but there was a single drop of water on the rail which worries me as I was sure it was coming through the obviously warped seal on the window.
It's the same on both sides. I can't see any issues from the front panel but it's possible I guess.
I've done a lot of searching and watching videos on how to remove but they always seem to miss the one part I need to know. Which I guess is do you think that replacing the rear glass panel will solve this leak? Is there a way to remove the rear panel without removing the front panel? To make things worse the sunroof won't open but the tilt/vent mechanism still works. My hope is to get the leak plugged and worry about the opening and closing later but I'm open to the idea of trying to get it working again if that's not too risky?
As for the SOS call failure message I believe the TCU can be coded out which I am up for doing but could only find advice for E60. Is this the same? I also read that replacing the TCU with same part number and SW and HW number might also work without coding. Any advice you could give would be much appreciated.
