So pressure bleed off is not of concern to me, and in some ways a safety check so I do NOT accidentally pump air into the system.

Ahh yes, I totally see the logic in that and agree - that is a seriously smart idea, building in a solid check and balance point
Add fluid to the reservoir, pressurize and bleed, so simple I didn't see it at first! And I love the fact that it forces you to check your work as you go - again, nice job on that!
