Rear Wheel Hub Replacement
Hi
Need to replace the Rear Wheel Hub (Driver Side, e70), as two wheel nut threads are damaged beyond (safe) repair. Have seen a few videos and threads for replacing the Rear Wheel Bearing but there are some conflicting areas that I hope someone can shed some light....
1. I'm planning to replace the Hub and the Bearing; do I still need to first separate the existing Hub from the Bearing (I know this damages it but I'm replacing it anyway) or can I remove the whole piece releasing the 4 bearing carrier bolts? wondering if that is doable and if they will just move out the axle? (using a extractor/separator)
2. Do I need to remove the rear CV axle? e.g. can the Bearing holder bolts (4 bolts accessed from behind) be removed with the axle in place? It seems difficult but so is that doable with extensions?
Thanks for any help/input or if someone has seen a related procedure will be appreciated...
