I believe the same instructions for the 6 cylinder applies to the V8 aux water pump. You can get it to run to bleed that section.
Otherwise, my normal go to is:
Fill system as much as possible.
Idle engine, heat on, high temp, low fan. Leave expansion tank open and keep topping up.
Near operating temp I put the lid on. Do a quick neighborhood test drive.
Next morning top it up.
I had to replace both the auxiliary water pump and heater control valve two years ago so depending on your year/mileage those could be suspect.
