4.8 Coolant bleed procedure

So I have done some searching around and seem to get differing opinions on how to properly bleed the coolant system on the 4.8. Most everything you see is for the electric water pump equipped 6 cyl's. I have also seen some information that the 4.8 is pretty much self bleeding, just fill it up and let it run. I replaced the upper radiator hose a month or so ago, have noticed the coolant level going down a bit over that time. Now that it is really cold here in Minnesota, I have found that I dont have much heat at all. The passenger side is completely cold and the drivers side is luke warm at best. Engine coolant temp is correct at about 100C and the radiator outlet temp varies as I would expect when sitting or driving with cold air blowing over the radiator. Id like to rule out any air bubbles present that are keeping the coolant from effectively reaching the heater cores. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Weirdly I have the same problem just recently here in California too right after I did my valve cover gaskets. I believe the coolant bleed procedure is just let the car run with the cap off and the heater at 84.0F at low settings.

I have replaced the AUX coolant pump, but still little to no heat. Weird.

I believe the same instructions for the 6 cylinder applies to the V8 aux water pump. You can get it to run to bleed that section.

Otherwise, my normal go to is:
Fill system as much as possible.
Idle engine, heat on, high temp, low fan. Leave expansion tank open and keep topping up.
Near operating temp I put the lid on. Do a quick neighborhood test drive.
Next morning top it up.

I had to replace both the auxiliary water pump and heater control valve two years ago so depending on your year/mileage those could be suspect.
