Weirdly I have the same problem just recently here in California too right after I did my valve cover gaskets. I believe the coolant bleed procedure is just let the car run with the cap off and the heater at 84.0F at low settings.
I have replaced the AUX coolant pump, but still little to no heat. Weird. |

I believe the same instructions for the 6 cylinder applies to the V8 aux water pump. You can get it to run to bleed that section.
Otherwise, my normal go to is: Fill system as much as possible. Idle engine, heat on, high temp, low fan. Leave expansion tank open and keep topping up. Near operating temp I put the lid on. Do a quick neighborhood test drive. Next morning top it up. I had to replace both the auxiliary water pump and heater control valve two years ago so depending on your year/mileage those could be suspect.
