You *shouldn't* connect directly to the battery bypassing the IBS.

I'm not sure if the voltage at the "12v" plug is direct from the battery or regulated. If it's 12v regulated it's not going to charge a battery but if it's vBat it would work and on e70 it's switched with the key so won't kill your battery when not running.

So: measure the voltage and confirm it's 13.6 ish when engine is running and you should be good to go.
