From what I've seen, this is rarely an actual gearbox issue. I had a similar problem and it turned out the interface between the valve body (mechatronic) and the transmission connector was bad. There's a bracket that holds terminals both for the connector and the interface points on the mechatronic. It gets worn over time and all kinds of electrical oddities pop up. If you look at a picture of the valve body, you'll see a brown plastic piece in most pictures. That's the part.
