Need Suggestions on dealing with Dealer/BMWNA Injector and EGR Recall/Warranty
So our F13 35d started showing signs of being a BMW recently. Up until recently it would intermittently throw codes for the 5 and 6 fuel injector offset at max limit. If cleared they would stay away for a few weeks to a month, or clear themselves within a couple days.
Recently, along with the #5 and #6 codes it added #1 as well as 2 EGR codes (don't remember the exact codes).
I tried reaching out to BMW of West Houston and to BMW NA Customer Service. Both told me that the EGR parts aren't yet available (for the recall SIB11 17 18) and that since I have a 2015 the injectors aren't covered by the diesel injector warranty extension SIB01 09 19.
I was prepared to swap out the #5 and #6 on my own (already have the units in hand) but with injectors skyrocekting in price I'd like to try to force a course of action from the dealer/BMWNA. Also, since the injector offset is measured from sensors on the downstream side of the combustion reaction it is plausible that CBU or other issues related to or exasperated by an EGR cooler leak could cause false error readings. So really I don't want to touch the injectors until the EGR issue is fixed to ensure that the root cause is isolated and resolved.
Any advice on dealing with the dealer or BMWNA would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has a local (to me) dealer that is more willing to help or an indy that have connections with BMWNA I would greatly appreciate any help.
When I talked to the dealer they said "Parts aren't available, we got nothing else for you on the EGR. Injectors for your year aren't covered, sorry."
When I talked to BMWNA the response was similar: "The parts aren't available for the EGR, injectors not covered but you should go to the dealer and have them fix that for you." When I posed the question about preventing further issues, or what I should do since there is a chance of the manifold melting or catching fire, BMWNA's response was: "Stop driving the car." That's an asinine response, I purchased a vehicle to be able to drive to work, to make money, to buy your stupid vehicle. I'm pretty furious with that response.
