While I share your sentiment that the E53 is better looking than the later X5s. They are very decent vehicles (E70, F15, have no experience with G05). The wife's F15 make the E53 feel old and brittle. Much of that is due to technology, but additionally, suspensions are better and sound deadening is much improved.

And the X7... We'll pick up one of those as soon as the depreciation makes it a $35k vehicle. Getting close to there already. We need one for the extra seating and larger interior. For a larger vehicle, it is pretty attractive compared to most competitors.

But looks are subjective... so I certainly get your opinion/love of the E53. Our X5s are people movers, excepting my E53 which is one of the "fun" vehicles. So our needs in an SAV are probably different.
