You could use a "hat" portion from another vehicle that has it or brake hardware kit on the backside. If you replace the backing plate what I did on the fronts is drill a 1/4" hole where you want to cut, then cut through the center of the hole and use a 1/4" bolt and washers to put it back together.

If the bearing needs to come off anyway then it's no use cutting the plate.
