I did the shift shaft seal on the manual transmission, maybe a little different, but looks kinda the same. It was a pain to get out. Two small screwdrivers, you kind of dent the one side in and it twist it out the other side. It took several minutes, slow progress, super careful not to scratch anything. I put masking tape on the manual rod to not scratch it. To install I put it in the freezer overnight and my 16mm impact socket fit perfect.
If you ever try to drill out a rear main seal, don't, try to pick it for a while first. If you have to drill it, use a good sharp drill bit and center punch it first. Great way to destroy an engine and have to replace the crank. Top 5 dumbest thing I've ever done. 💰
