DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT get any aftermarket screens for your X5's, I have the AVIC-D1 and believe me there is no bezel that will make it look stock, NOTHING, not even the one off mybimmer.net. In fact, when I get the retro nav 16:9 parts together, im going to ebay off the AVIC-D1 unit. Amazing unit, dont get me wrong, but it makes the X5 interior look trashy. My opinion, save for the Retrofit or stick with what you have, aftermarkets don't cut it in BMW's.

Anyways, Ive got a few questions, Im trying to break down two deals into one from Rover, a 16:9 for my X5 with the whole nav kit, and the same for my M3. The question is, on a 2001 X5 and a 2003 M3, what will work on these kits, what wont.

Another thing, I was talking to a gentleman at my Local BMW dealer and he told me if your X5 2001 did not come with the 4:3 nav system, there is no way they can put in a 16:9 system, its simply not wired for it. Is this true, or will Rovers kits have the parts to make it work?

Lastly, How hard is the retrofit installation? I'm not a handyman, but I do have a tonne of spare time in my hands since University is off for another 2 months. Are the installation instructions it comes with enough to retrofit without problems?

Thanks, the kits rover supplies are:
