Cingular is just doing what everyone knew they would do when they merged with AT&T, and that is dump their old network and move everyone to AT&T's GSM network, which, outside of major metro areas, isn't very reliable (had AT&T for a few years, switched to Verizon 2 years ago and have had great service)
