I've done some semi-serious offroading with the X5, I had the 3.0 and now have switched to a 4.8. I have to say that the 3.0 was much better due to the softer suspension. The 4.8 is so sport oriented that it makes dealing with rough terrain worse. My 3.0 did NOT have adjustable ride height whereas the 4.8 does have it... honestly I FEEL like the 4.8 has less clearance, even at the raised position. But I have been unable to confirm it as there is no data out there regarding clearance with adjustable ride height.
