Check out E90post.com, there are several posts. The entire overheating story appears to be a non-issue. The root of it, apparently, is that the manuals show different oil operating temperature ranges for the coupe and sedan, and that the Euro models (with gauges in C) go to 338 F instead of 300 F. Lots of people seem to be comparing coolant temperatures to oil temperatures.

Haven't seen any overheating reported to date.
